Our Team
Van Metre & Associates was established in 1977. Broker, owner Fred Van Metre is a graduate of Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa with a degree in Business Administration & Education.

Fred has a farm background and has been active in the listing and selling of farmland. He has utilized the auction method in farmland and commercial real estate over the years to establish a reputable, successful business.

The residential side of Van Metre & Associates is headed by Valerie Alkire. Valerie has been licensed since 1994. Originally from Tama-Toledo, she graduated in 1980 from West Marshall High School. She is knowledgeable and active in all aspects of real estate. Valerie holds a GRI and also handles the closings and trust funds for the company. Jay Hansen is a lifetime resident of Marshall County and is knowledgeable and active in all areas of real estate and specializes in commercial, investment, and farmland as well as residential real estate. Jay is familiar with 1031 Exchanges as well. Shane Miller is A Caring Professional. Shane is a Licensed Agent in both California and Iowa who specializes in working with First Time Buyers, Residential, Luxury Homes, Beachfront Properties, and Relocation.
